Should You Consider Doing Your Own Site?

These skills include cosmetic and programming design expertise, business knowledge, and search engine site placement experience. Few beginners know the techniques that make a site easier and less expensive to maintain.  An amateurish site can lead to expensive maintenance and its unprofessional appearance can do more harm than good.

Our advice is that you retain a professional to build the structure and teach you how to later take over site maintenance. It is important that the site be designed to be informative and compelling. It must be compatible with browser versions. It must load quickly. It is critical that the designer knows how to design your site so that potential clients will be able to find it among the thousands of other business Web sites.

These pages are inexpensively priced, as long as you supply Web-ready text in Microsoft Word format. You may supply up to three photographs. Included in the package are a Home Page, an About Us page and a Directions/Map page. You may choose from our free and for sale Web photos, Art selections and banners and buttons. If desired, for an additional charge, we can obtain your pictures by scanning photos and brochures.

We can assist you in acquiring your own domain name from a domain registrar at current industry pricing. The starter package includes four e-mail POP addresses which will route to yournames@yourbusiness.com or an alias such as yourname@yourisp.com. Upon receipt of your order, we will supply the Web address of a Web content input form. Further customization and other services may be purchased from the MdH Group.

These sites typically range from $300 - $3,000, depending upon whether you supply the text and graphics. Yearly hosting (placing your site on a Web server) ranges in price from $250 per year to $6000 per year, depending upon the features you select. The $250.00 web hosting package will generally suffice for most purposes.

Customized Web Pages with multiple E-mail addresses, input forms, secure areas, bulletin boards, news pages, capability, design, photography range in price from $500 to $2,500, depending upon your involvement.  Sites that require extensive photography, artwork and e.g., custom order entry or database systems may be $2,500 to $25,000.

Our goal is to build the pages and teach you to input your text as needed. We are available on a billable basis as desired. You own the page. If you should decide to change Internet providers, you can take the page with you.
